Rachel King is a freelance journalist and writes about issues related to technology, design and travel. A writer for ZDNet and True/Slant, she has previously worked for The Business Insider and Fast Company in New York, the U.S. Department of State in Washington and the CNN’s San Francisco bureau. Currently, Rachel is living in Lille, France, working as an English language assistant.
She graduated from Columbia University School of Journalism, with a master’s degree in journalism, emphasizing in magazine production. Before arriving in New York, she obtained a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley, where she double-majored in Mass Communications and History, with an emphasis on the British Empire and World War II. Rachel wrote at her college newspaper, The Daily Californian, covering University-related issues.
In her spare time, she listens to BBC news podcasts, plays trumpet and watches The Office. Someday she will be perfectly fluent in both French and Spanish. Someday.
